I really like the styling in this music video. I could achieve this effect in the tv studio at college. I would need to think about The clothing and the styling of the band Because this music video works because everybody is dressed in black and there is a sharp contrast with the clean white background. There are some typical conventions such as lip synch,repeated close up of lead singer,live performance of the band, editing in time with the beat.

why do artists like music videos?

music videos make them look good. highly stylized represented.
visual element to a story. an excellent way to promote the band. its fun.
they get to work with great directors. spike jonze, chris cunningham,michael gondry.the story of the song is in a visual way lots of music videos have a narrative. videos can show personality of the band. allows band to do stuff they cannot do on stage, product placement/endorsement :)
